Frequently Asked Questions
What is image rotation?
Image rotation is the process of turning an image around its center point by a specified angle. This allows you to correct tilted photos, change orientation, or create artistic effects.
What's the difference between rotating and flipping?
Rotating turns the image around its center by degrees (0-360°), while flipping creates a mirror image either horizontally (left-right) or vertically (top-bottom).
Why would I rotate an image?
Common reasons include: correcting photos taken at an angle, changing portrait to landscape orientation, fixing upside-down scans, or aligning images for presentations and documents.
Does rotation affect image quality?
Rotations at 90°, 180°, or 270° are lossless. However, rotating at other angles may cause slight quality loss due to pixel interpolation, especially on low-resolution images.
What image formats are supported?
Our rotator supports JPEG, PNG, WebP, and GIF formats. The output maintains your original format for best compatibility.
Can I rotate and flip at the same time?
Yes! You can combine any rotation angle with horizontal and/or vertical flip options in a single operation.
What happens to the image dimensions after rotation?
For 90° and 270° rotations, width and height are swapped. For other angles, the image may be slightly larger to accommodate the rotated corners.
Is my image stored on your servers?
No, all processing happens in real-time. Your images are not stored permanently and are deleted immediately after processing.
What's the maximum file size?
The maximum file size is 20MB. For larger files, consider compressing them first using our Image Compressor tool.
When should I use horizontal vs vertical flip?
Use horizontal flip to create a mirror image (selfie correction, design symmetry). Use vertical flip to turn an image upside-down, often useful for reflections or special effects.
