// Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find where a photo was taken?

Upload your photo to our GPS Location Viewer. If the photo contains GPS data in its metadata, we'll show you the exact coordinates and display the location on a map. Most smartphone photos include location data unless you disabled it in settings.

Why doesn't my photo have GPS data?

GPS data might be missing if: location services were disabled when taking the photo, the image was already stripped of metadata (e.g., by social media platforms), the camera doesn't support GPS, or the photo was edited and metadata was lost.

Is my photo stored on your servers?

No, your photos are processed temporarily and never stored on our servers. The metadata is extracted, sent to your browser, and the image is immediately deleted. Your privacy is our priority.

What image formats are supported?

We support all common image formats including JPEG/JPG (most common for photos with GPS), PNG, WebP, TIFF, and HEIC/HEIF (iPhone photos). JPEG files are most likely to contain GPS data.
