Frequently Asked Questions
What is image cropping?
Image cropping is the process of removing unwanted outer areas from an image to focus on a specific region, improve composition, or resize to a particular aspect ratio.
What image formats does this cropper support?
Our cropper supports JPEG, PNG, WebP, and GIF formats. The output will maintain the original format unless you need specific conversion.
What are aspect ratio presets?
Aspect ratio presets (1:1, 16:9, 4:3, 3:2) are common image proportions used for different purposes. 1:1 is perfect for profile pictures, 16:9 for videos and presentations, 4:3 for standard photos, and 3:2 for DSLR camera formats.
Is there a maximum file size limit?
Yes, the maximum file size is 20MB. For larger files, we recommend compressing them first using our Image Compressor tool.
Will cropping reduce image quality?
Cropping itself doesn't reduce quality—it simply removes pixels. However, if you crop a small area and enlarge it, you may notice quality loss. For best results, start with high-resolution images.
How do the X and Y coordinates work?
X is the horizontal position (left to right) and Y is the vertical position (top to bottom) where your crop area starts. X=0, Y=0 is the top-left corner of the image.
Can I crop to a custom size?
Yes! Enter any Width and Height values you need. You can also adjust the X and Y coordinates to position your crop area anywhere on the image.
Is my image stored on your servers?
No, your images are processed in real-time and never permanently stored on our servers. They are automatically deleted after processing.
Can I undo a crop after downloading?
No, once you download the cropped image, the original pixels are removed. We recommend keeping a copy of your original image before cropping.
Why should I crop images for social media?
Different platforms have specific image requirements: Instagram posts work best at 1:1, YouTube thumbnails at 16:9, and Twitter headers at 3:1. Cropping ensures your images display correctly without automatic cropping by the platform.
